Nexium Control 40mg GastroResistant GastroBean® Tablets, 20 Tablets Bottle, are used with a diuretic containing magaldrate, a potassium-sparing diuretic which prevents the reabsorption of acid in the distal tubules. When Magaldrate is removed the amount of potassium in the body decreases. Magaldrate is used to treat conditions including: heart failure, heart failure, kidney failure, edema (swelling), and heart failure. Heart failure, heart failure, kidney failure, or edema (fluid retention) is caused by fluid build-up within the heart and lower abdomen. Reducing the amount of fluid in the abdomen may reduce the risk of Magaldrate becoming a problem. Edema (fluid retention) is caused by conditions such as heart failure, kidney failure, liver cirrhosis, and peritoneal infection. If you have edema (fluid retention), the elimination half-life of Magaldrate takes from about 4 to 6 hours from citrulline until dihydroorotination (losing about 24 hours from the last digly taken). Diuretics (magaldrate tablets) prevent the reabsorption of this process and are used to treat conditions including: heart failure, peritonitis, heart infection, peritonitis fluid, kidney infection, liver infection, peritoneal cavity infection, and liver disease. Magaldrate tablets (magnesium or sodium based) are used in adults for the treatment of potassium loss in heart failure. They are usually taken with food to prevent upset stomach. They should be used with caution in the elderly. Magaldrate should not be used in combination with other medicines in the same treatment.

Reflux is the backflow of acid from the stomach into the gullet (“foodpipe”) which may become inflamed and painful. This may cause you symptoms such as a painful sensation in the chest rising up to your throat (heartburn) and a sour taste in the mouth (acid regurgitation).
Nexium Control is not meant to bring immediate relief. You may need to take the tablets for 2-3 days in a row before you feel better. You must talk to a doctor if you do not feel better or if you feel worse after 14 days.

Nexium 24HR 20 mg enteric coated tablets for the lasting symptomatic relief of frequent heartburn, acid regurgitation and other symptoms associated with gastro-oesophageal reflux.
Always take this medicine exactly as described in the Consumer Medicine Information leaflet or as your doctor or pharmacist have told you. Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure. The recommended dose is one tablet a day. - Do not take more than this recommended dose of one tablet (20 mg) a day, even if you don't feel an improvement immediately. - You may need to take Nexium 24HR for a few days before experiencing the full effect. - Nexium 24HR should be taken for at least 7 days and up to 14 days. - Tell your pharmacist or doctor if you do not feel better while taking Nexium 24HR. If symptoms persist or recur within 2 weeks of completing the course, consult your doctor. Further examination may be required.

In the article, Dr. Jane Thompson of the Mayo Clinic said patients should talk to their doctor about the risks and benefits of new medications if they’re taking heartburn drugs, such as Nexium.
The FDA says that heartburn medications may interact with drugs known as proton pump inhibitors (PPIs), which work by stopping acid production in the stomach.

Department of Veterans Affairs has released the results of its (VA) and other clinical studies to determine whether Nexium, a prescription antacid medication, is more effective than placebo in relieving acid reflux symptoms, such as heartburn and acid reflux symptoms. According to the study, Nexium has a safety profile of being safe, well-tolerated, and has demonstrated statistically significant benefit from dosing.
